Hello,

Is there a way to prioritize some BGP sessions over the others in order to make sure in case of a router reboots that a default route is installed quickly in the forwarding table ? (in a matter of dozens of seconds) Maybe by ordering the startup of the sessions at boot time ?

I only found this for oubound routes : https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/concept/bgp-route-prioritization-overview.html

There are all sorts of BGP update/route/FIB installation prioritizations available in recent JUNOS versions but not this one (BGP session establishment prioritization).

You could use static 0/0 (and/or ::/0) route to act as a last resort while BGP sessions are not yet established. The nexthop could be the "last known working peering partner IP".

HTH

Thx
Alex
