Hi.
I know that administratively scoped multicast addresses are similar in function to the RFC 1918 private unicast addresses.
RFC 2365 describes 2 types of administratively scoped multicast addresses:
Local Scope (239.255.0.0/16) : "a Local Scope must not span any other scope boundary. Further, a Local Scope must be completely contained within or equal to any larger scope"
Organisation Local Scope(239.192.0.0/14): "is the space from which an organisation should allocate subranges when defining scopes for private use."
The RFC says the Organisation Local Scope addresses is meant for private use. But that's also the case with Local Scope addresses, isn't it?
So how are Organisation Local Scope addresses different from Local Scope addresses in their usage (other than their assigned multicast address ranges)
Thanks,
Deepak
