Correct, in the current configuration the BGP routes will be preferred over the static configuration.
Really this comes down to what the desired routing design is and how you want failover to work. This setup could be typical. You want the learned BGP route to be active until the peer is lost then the static route will kick in as the backup path.
And you also need to consider how the routing setup is at the remote sites if they also have secondary paths, which I assume they do.
Your default route should point to the path towards your internet service. So whatever interface is facing this is where that should be going.
